What becomes frustrating for me is the judgement that is automatically assumed when someone "sizes me up"
(pun intended). The talent that I have is not going to be held back my the size of my waist nor by the fact that my six-pack is still "in the cooler."
Yes, I do understand that directors and agents do have a "look" in mind when they are casting or accepting clients. I get it. I don't get why look has the power to overshadow other factors that could land someone a role that they are good enough for.
I understand that this is my opinion as a larger actor but I feel that I must get this out there. I can guarantee that I will continue to work on loosing weight for my health, because I know that a healthy weight is something to strive for. I will not, however, let my talent be masked or stopped by my weight.
To all actors who struggle with the same issues I have, I beg of you to never believe that you are too big for a role. Always try to land that part. Just because someone has a "narrow" perception doesn't meen Don't we all want to make it "big?"
