Merry (almost) Christmas everyone! As I write this, I am listening to Pandora Radio's Christmas selections. Very few things get me in the holiday mood as much as these classic tunes. So, things have been happening, and I have been falling behind in updating...but that is totally okay, right? Okay, down to brass tax. What has been going on in my world as of late? A Hunting Shack Christmas has been going well. We have had sell-out houses every night and more shows have been added. There are just a few individual tickets left. The link for the show is below. I have been currently performing as Ham, the self-proclaimed comic relief. This is a very funny, heart-warming holiday comedy that everyone will find something to love about. A Hunting Shack Christmas plays now through January 4th at Yellow Tree Theatre in Osseo, MN. But wait...there's more! While also performing, I have begun the rehearsal process for my next production, Into the Woods with Lyric Arts in Anoka, MN. That's right folks, I am going back to Sondheim! This week we started working on this masterpiece. I have the honor and privilege to bring to life the role of The Baker, who wants to reverse a curse placed on his house that makes him infertile. For those of you who don't know, writer James Lapine and composer extraordinaire Stephen Sondheim put together this piece where all of your favorite fairy tale characters go into the woods to get their wishes. Happily ever after happens at the end of the first act. Wait...there is a life after happily ever after? Indeed there is. The cast of characters have to go back into the woods together to live with the choices they've made after getting their wishes. As per the classic Grimm style, chaos ensues, people die, and the survivors have live the rest of their lives after happily ever after has taken its tole. Sounds like fun, right? It is a favorite musical of mine, and apparently of Disney! In just a week, the big screen adaptation of Into the Woods will be coming to a theatre near you! Now, as I wrote in an earlier blog, this is going to be an adaptation of the musical. Yes, it will be done by the creators of the original work, but it is still an adaptation none the less. I would like to invite you to see Into the Woods at Lyric Arts in Anoka, MN, opening February 13th and playing through March 8th. Tickets are available now at lyricarts.org. http://www.yellowtreetheatre.com/shows/season-7/a-hunting-shack-christmas
