It's that time, ladies and gents. Time when we use all of our ink printing our headshots and resumes. Time when we look in the mirror and ask, "Am I really going to wear this?" Time when we run through our sixteen bars and sixty-second monologues and hope that they are good enough. Yes, that's right. It's audition season in Minneapolis! Where you try to look cool while trying not to freeze. Thanks winter! >:{ Belated spring wishes aside, this is probably one of the most daunting times in a Minneapolis actor's season. Over the next couple of months, we find if we have work or not over the next year. We have to plan ahead for the entire next year...literally! Conflicts, jobs, birthdays, vacations, other auditions or weddings need to be thought of. Whether you put them down on your conflict sheet is an entirely different matter. Yes, don't worry, I am putting my wedding date on there as a non-negotiable conflict. No matter how much you prepare and think you're ready, you never know what is going to happen. Like the boys and girls in A Chorus Line, you never know what a director is really looking for. I might be too tall, too pale, too large, too anything but what they need. Yet at the end of the day, you have to believe in yourself and know that you did the best that you can do. If you don't land the role, hope that you at least made a good impression in the mind of your auditor. I might not be right every show, but perhaps the director will envision me in something else they have in mind. Here's hoping. To everyone who has auditioned, I hope it went well. To all going to audition, break a leg. To those not auditioning but wanting to, DO IT ALREADY! :)
