As the great Mr. Geisel (or Dr. Seuss) wrote, "Oh, the places you'll go! There is fun to be done..." This now popular graduation gift is meant to remind us that there are so many exciting things that await us on our journey of life. I have some exciting journeys coming up very soon. For the next six-ish months I will not be spending too much time in the Minni-Apple (see what I did there). Instead I will be seeing the sights of some very historic places and acting all the way. Beginning in April, I will be going on a two month tour with the National Theatre for Children. This touring company brings humorous and education theatre to schools around the US. My one acting partner and I will be on the road in North and South Carolina performing The Resource Force, teaching kids about energy and how to be efficient with it. I will have the fun privilege of playing five different characters and throwing in audience suggested improv throughout the show. If any of you know what kind of "pop" music artists the middle-school aged kids are listening to these days, let me know in the comments below. I have to play a singer that the audience suggests and I don't think they'll be asking me to be Stephen Sondheim. Once I return from my tour, I immediately re-pack my bags and head to St. Croix Falls, WI, to work with Festival theatre! Though I am not yet at liberty to divulge publicly what roles I shall be performing, I can state it is gonna good. I will also be doing improv as well as teaching kiddies. That engagement will happen through October. Throw in a few weddings to the mix, and the next six months are going to be crazy. I wouldn't have it any other way. There really is a lot of "fun to be done."
